Mixed E20 rat cortical cultures stained with MCA-2A52, mouse monoclonal antibody to vimentin in green and rabbit antibody RPCA-GFAP to glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in red. Glial cells contain varying ratios of these two proteins and so appear red, yellow or green. Nuclei of neurons and glia are seen in blue with the DNA stain DAPI. 20.6 megapixel image print is 24” X 36” at 154 DPI.

Image was taken with a 20X lens on an Olympus FV1000 confocal microscope. The microscope is fitted with a programmable stage which allows a series of images to be taken and then merged into one large image.
