We added a new rabbit polyclonal antibody to MAP2 RPCA-MAP2ABCD. This recognizes all isotypes of MAP2, both high molecular weight MAP2A and B and also the low molecular weight MAP2C and D isoforms. We document that this antibody works very well for IF, ICC and IHC.
We also release a novel monoclonal antibody to L-plastin, MCA-5F101. L-plastin is an actin and Calcium binding cytoskeletal protein also known as fimbrin or fimbrin 1. We document the use of this antibody on western blots and in IF, ICC and IHC
Finally we generated a novel and convenient reagent for use with current neurofilament light (NF-L) assays. There has been enormous interest in antibody based assays to detect NF-L in blood and CSF of animal models and patients with a variety neurodegenerative damage and disease states. NF-L is a major protein of axons and axons are very sensitive structures the loss of which are central to problems caused by mechanical injury and by disease states such as ALS, Alzhiemer's, Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis and many others. When axons degenerate fragments of NF-L are released into blood and CSF and can be detected with appropriate NF-L antibodies. We have shown exactly where the most widely used antibodies bind have used this information to generate a very convenient protein standard, see here. This includes the region contain the relevant NF-L epitopes and also Trp residues allowing very accurate quantitiation spectrophotometrically. This reagent is Prot-r-NF-L-Stan.
